To reduce the risk of catching or spreading the virus, there are a few simple tips to follow:

  • cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, using a paper tissue;
  • throw the tissue away quickly and carefully;
  • wash your hands regularly with soap and water;
  • keep your hands away from your face as much as possible.

Over the coming weeks, we will have to think about changing some habits for the duration of the pandemic. Replace the handshake as a greeting with a friendly wave (an easy one for the Brits like me) and we’ll have to rethink the kisses on the cheek as a greeting (a bit harder for everyone and certainly not as friendly, but passing on swine flu isn’t too friendly a gesture either!).
